Dangal is a masterpiece by Aamir Khan and we bet no one could have played Mahavir Phogat better than him. The movie revolves around wrestling and beautifully depicts the father-daughter relation. As expected from an Aamir Khan film, it has all the elements placed perfectly that keep you engaged along with the mind blowing script, screenplay, direction and acting.
The movie is based on a true story and has a strong feminist message about how Mahavir Phogat shows confidence in his girls and constantly pushes them for aiming towards gold medal. We hope these thoughts reflect in the society and female foeticide prevailing in our country takes a major fall. We see all the blood and sweat the girls go through to become champions and make their father proud.
The movie shows Aamir Khan’s sheer dedication towards his work especially the way he has played both the older and younger Mahavir Phogat which involves huge physical transformation. Aamir Khan truly shines throughout the movie but what amazes us more is the acting of the newcomers Fatima Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra who play Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat. They have followed the character to the T and look nuanced especially in the second half where they rise and fall and then end up winning gold for the country. Sakshi Tanvar has a small yet effective role. She looks very natural in her performance as Aamir Khan’s wife. Aparshakti Khurrana, Ayushmann’s brother plays cousin to these sisters and looks good too. Dangal would not have been this enlightening if the entire casting wasn’t right. A huge shoutout to the director Nitish Tiwari, who has done such a brilliant job with the actors.
Final Verdict: Dangal makes you spellbound!
