Finally, after a long time in bollywood we have a nice, refreshing love story! HSKD has influences of the cult DDLJ with a touch of today by director Shashank Khaitan. This entertainer from Dharma Productions is going to be loved by the masses and classes both.
The story revolves around Humpty played by Varun Dhawan and Kavya played by Alia Bhatt. Kavya, a simple Ambala is about to wed an NRI guy (Siddharth Shukla) whom she has never met before. Her only condition to the marriage is “Main shaadi karoongi to Kareena wala designer lehenga pehen kar hi karoongi” !! During her wedding shopping, she comes across street smart Delhi guy Humpty and they fall in love. Then in DDLJ style, Humpty goes to Ambala with Kavya and they try to sort out the situation by Humpty trying to impress her father(Aashutosh Rana). Nothing new in the love story but there is nothing that you will not like about it. The climax is predictable, but that doesnt matter in a love story like this.
Performances are excellent and the movie would not have looked this beautiful without Varun and Alia’s chemistry. The emotional moments are extremely well performed. Alia looks natural as always and Varun is dashing, charming entertaining. The music is excellent and the songs justify to the situations and are very well shot. TV hunk Siddharth Shukla is good in his small role. Aashutosh Rana is good in the film yet cannot be compared to Amrish Puri of DDLJ.
Final Verdict: Entertaining, refreshing, romantic feel good film.
